THE AUTHORS
Despite the commonly held belief that two guys with the same surname must automatically be gay, Mark and Simon Jackman are actually brothers, originally from Somerset.
The two brothers (not lovers) have spent a lot of time living and travelling together; some might suggest too much time. These experiences, combined with growing up in a rural backwater, have provided a great deal of the inspiration behind the locations and the characters in their writing.
People always ask the same two questions when they discover that the two brothers write books together: "How does it work?" and "Are you gay?"
As it happens, they complement each other very well. Simon, the younger brother, considers himself to be the 'ideas man', whilst Mark is the 'ideals man', which means that Simon comes up with all the ideas and Mark thinks that ideally there would be less penis references but goes along with them anyway, due to him having the mental age of a 12 year old.
Their work has been described as "inspirational", "Orwell-esque" and "absolute dog shit" (thanks, Dad).
